16th July River Festival

The Rockhampton River Festival is set to return 14-16 2017! Celebrate, create, congregate and consume at the newly revitalised riverfront! The Rockhampton River Festival is a free event for all ages, however entry fees apply to specific ticketed events throughout the festival.

WOMEN IN DOCS (Chanel Lucas and Roz Pappalardo) perform on SUNDAY 16th July. They are known for their raw, exciting, upbeat sounds, well-considered (and often humorous) lyrics, crisp, acoustic guitar and soaring harmonies. The act gather large, loyal crowds wherever they play – including all major music and folk festivals across Australia and the USA. Their music is reminiscent of the Indigo Girls and the Waifs, with a little bit of Dixie Chicks thrown in.

Originally from Townsville and Innisfail, Chanel Lucas and Roz Pappalardo, first sang their way into the hearts of the Australian music loving public in the late ’90’s with their self-titled EP from which the track, ‘Tin Roof’, was immediately playlisted by ABC radio, launching them onto the main-stage of the Australian music industry.

Key performances at South By South West, Austin, Texas; International Folk Alliance, San Diego and Memphis and Canadian Music Week, Toronto; 50 000 CD’s sold independently, 8 releases later has cemented women in docs’ reputation as as one of Australia’s most enduring independent acts.

Palm Creek Folk Festival 2016

We are very excited to announce that women in docs are playing the 2016 Palm Creek Folk Festival.

It is the 25th anniversary year of this fantastic festival. It is held in the bush just south of Townsville in North Queensland. Come for the day or camp for the weekend. Kids welcome!

This was the very first festival we ever played. We were part of the the ‘Queen’s Birthday Concert’ which featured a bunch of female artists from all around NQ. It must’ve given us the bug – because we have loved playing festivals ever since and have been all over the world to play at them including China, Germany and many months in the USA.

We’ll be joined by our full band – Geoff Green (george, Honey, Harmony James) on drums, with Michael Patrick (The Company) moonlighting with us for the weekend.

Hope you can join us! Festival details HERE. women in docs’ gig details HERE.
